One activity we did this year that we did not do last, was monitoring the Least Tern coastal bird specie. I enjoyed this, I got a couple really good pictures of the birds that were flying around and that’s also where I got this pictures of this stunning Least Tern chick.  - Sharon Cruz

  As unbelievable as it sounds, we saw 2 humpback whales on our boat trip to bird island. I think this was right after the first dive, I was taking pictures of the sea lions and that’s when the captain saw the whales breaching in the distance. He told me to sit at the bow to get good pictures and you bet I did. This picture is of me and Glenn sitting at the bow of the boat.  - Sharon Cruz

  On this day, we went tidepooling in the Choya Bay Mudflat. Personally I love the Choya Bay mudflat, I think it’s one of the more fun intertidal areas to visit. Nearing the end of our tidepooling we came across this massive ghost net that was toward the shore of the low tide. Me and 4 other students, when we saw the net we of course went to try and pick up to carry it back with us, and that’s when we noticed the crabs and clams that were stuck in it. We spent a good 30 minutes sorting through this net trying to get all the crabs we could find out. The crabs were super collaborative too, they never tried to pinch us. In the end we ended up saving 12 crabs, and they all were alive when we out then back in the water.
